An m/38 Type I Swedish Mauser manufactured by Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori in 1901. The top of the receiver has the Carl Gustafs crowned trademark, with the text "Carl Gustafs Stads Gevärsfaktori 1901" beneath it. The left-hand side of the receiver bears the inspector's initials "O.G" and the rifle's serial number.
This rifle was originally an m/96 long rifle, but was converted by Carl Gustafs into an m/38 carbine sometime between 1938-1943. These rifles are also known to collectors as m/96-38 rifles. As such, it comes equipped with a micrometer rear sight by Metallverken Västeras.
