  • Colombian M12/34 rifle produced in 1934 as a partnership between Steyr-Werke and Solothurn Waffen AG known as Steyr-Solothurn Waffen AG.
  • Originally chambered in 7x57, the M12/34 was a modified version of the original Steyr Model 1912 Mauser which Steyr had already sold to Colombia in the past.
  • Only 10,000 were made under a 1934 contract for Colombia, as well as a handful made from leftover parts for the Luftwaffe in World War Two.
  • As Colombia began to adopt more and more FN Model rifles however, they would convert almost all of these rifles into clones of the FN Model 50 by erasing the Steyr-Solothurn markings, replacing the stocks and converting them to .30-06 as was used by their FN rifles.
  • The outline of the Colombian crest used on the Steyr-Solothurn M12/34 remains on the reciever however, and the replacement FN-style stock still features the Colombian crest on the left-hand side.
