M1917 Enfield made by Remington for the American Expeditionary Forces during the First World War. Markings and serial number indicate that the rifle was manufactured in November of 1918, using a barrel made in September of 1918, according to the "9-18" marking featured on the barrel below the front sight.
Production of the M1917 would apparently be halted in late November following the Armistice of 11th November, 1918. Following the First World War these rifles would also be used by U.S. forces in South American during the Banana Wars, and were issued to U.S. rear personnel and the Philippine Commonwealth Army.
