Think twice for .223 Rem

The semi-spherical spitzer tip and ogive position requires shorter than SAAMI COAL length for .223 Rem which should increase pressure and velocity with deeper seating. I found velocity at target below 1500 fps @ 500 yds 23gn Benchmark 8208 (which exceeds ADI max load for this projectile). I normally use 69gn HPBT 25gn 8208 with 500 yds velocity around 2,000 fps. Seating depth is critical with these spitzer slugs and a little 223 doesn't punch them out; the projectile BC results in a fairly slow shot.Savage mod 12 .223 Rem 26" barrel 1:9 twist varmint.

great for my new Bergara with1 in 8 twist and 20'' barrel, they hit hard. good price but delivery to vic border this time round, well have to blame the chinese flu
