The ProScare Comox 12 Gauge is a specialised bird-scaring and wildlife deterrent cartridge designed for agricultural, crop protection and pest management applications. Manufactured by NOY Industries, the ProScare range provides a combination of high-pitched acoustic deterrence and visual effects to assist in dispersing unwanted birds and wildlife from sensitive areas.

The Comox range incorporates high-frequency whistling projectiles and timed-report cracker cartridges, designed to produce distinctive airborne sound effects. The high-frequency cartridges emit a loud, high-pitched sound during flight, lasting approximately 2–3 seconds and producing a noise level of around 110 decibels. The cracker and whistler cartridges have an approximate operating range of 50–60 metres, while the Xploda timed-report cartridges have an approximate range of 50–70 metres.

Designed for use with compatible 12-gauge shotguns, ProScare cartridges are intended for controlled acoustic wildlife management applications. The manufacturer specifies a cylinder-bore (unchoked) shotgun with a 20-inch barrel and a non-ejector action, and does not recommend their use in pump-action, lever-action, straight-pull or self-loading shotguns.

Important: These cartridges contain explosive projectiles and must be used strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulations. They present a fire risk in dry vegetation and must not be used in high fire-danger conditions. Appropriate hearing and eye protection are required.
