A Lee-Enfield Mk. I rifle manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) in 1900. The right-hand side of the receiver beneath the bolt bears the royal cypher of Queen Victoria, with the text "V.R. Enfield 1900 L.E. 1*" beneath it.
This rifle appears to have been issued in Queensland, with the top of the receiver bearing the text "Q🡱G," the inventory number 1262, and an "🡲S🡰" indicating it was later sold out of service likely prior to the arrival of the later Short Magazine Lee-Enfield. There are multiple issue-dates and inventory numbers stamped into the right-hand side of the butt-stock, but they are too faint to decipher definitively.
This rifle still retains its dust cover, magazine cut-off, and volley sights. It also has a commercial nitro-proofed barrel courtesy of W.W. Greener. As such, the barrel is stamped with the text "W.W. Greener Birmingham" written in front of the rear sight block.
