A Short Magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) No. 1 Mk. III manufactured by the Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA) in 1938 and pushed into Israeli service after the Second World War. The right-hand side of the receiver beneath the bolt bears the royal cypher of King George VI, with "GR B.S.A. Co 1938 Sht LE III" written beneath it.
This rifle was issued in Israel some time after the Second World War, with the top of the receiver bearing a Hebrew Tzadik "צ" and a Star of David. The right-hand side of the butt-stock also has a brass disc with "17 IB" written inside it.
