A Portuguese Mauser–Vergueiro 1904/39 rifle manufactured by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) between 1904-1907. The top of the receiver bears the royal crest of King Carlos I, while the left-hand side bears the text "Espingarda Portugueza 6.5 Mod. 1904" above the text "Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken Berlin."
As this rifle bears the text "6.5 Mod. 1904", it was originally chambered in 6.5x58mm Verueiro and has been converted into 8x57 Mauser as the Portuguese adopted the newer m/937-pattern of rifles.
