Cowboy Action Shooting is just about the fastest growing shooting sport around. In addition to the usual competition traits of speed and accuracy, the shooter must recreate the spirit of the 1880s. Guns, costumes and ammo must fit the period. Making ammo that fits the Old West image means loading lead bullets, jacketed bullets are not allowed. It also means that the bullets must be designed to work properly in lever action rifles and single action revolvers. Thats where the RCBS Cowboy Dies come in. Our Cowboy Dies are built to slightly different dimensions than our regular dies to allow optimum sizing, expanding, seating and crimping needed to load great lead bullet ammo.
RCBS pioneered and developed the 3 Die Sets for straight wall rifle and pistol cases. In the 3 Die Set sizing and expanding (belling) are done in separate dies. The 3 Die Set has a Sizer Die with Decapping Unit, Expander Die for expanding and belling the case mouth and a Seater Die with Roll Crimp and Bullet Seater Plug(s) for seating and crimping the bullet.
