The Ruger No. 1 is a classic American single-shot sporting rifle renowned for its exceptionally strong falling-block action, distinctive styling and high standard of manufacture. Introduced by Sturm, Ruger & Co. in the late 1960s, the No. 1 combines the appearance of a traditional sporting rifle with a robust action capable of handling powerful hunting cartridges.

This example was originally chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum and has been rechambered to .458 Lott. The .458 Lott was developed as a longer, higher-capacity evolution of the .458 Winchester Magnum and has established a strong reputation as a dangerous-game cartridge. Combined with the strength and simplicity of the Ruger No. 1 action, this makes for a particularly impressive large-bore sporting rifle.
