Australian Automatic Arms (AAA) SAR – 5.56 NATO

The Australian Automatic Arms (AAA) SAR is an uncommon Australian-manufactured semi-automatic rifle, representing an interesting chapter in Australia's domestic firearms manufacturing history. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, the SAR is a distinctive example of locally developed firearms technology and is particularly interesting to collectors of Australian-made military-style and sporting firearms.

Manufactured by Australian Automatic Arms, the SAR belongs to the family of rifles developed from the Australian-designed Leader Dynamics T2 platform. These rifles reflect a period of independent Australian firearms development, with distinctive construction and styling that set them apart from more conventional imported semi-automatic rifles.

The SAR features a detachable box magazine, synthetic furniture and a practical military-style configuration. Australian Automatic Arms rifles are relatively uncommon on the Australian second-hand market, making surviving examples of particular historical and collector interest.

An interesting and seldom-encountered Australian-made firearm, the SAR represents a distinctive piece of Australia's firearms manufacturing heritage.
