Manufactured by Erma Werke (Erfurter Maschinenfabrik) in Erfurt, Germany, this Karabiner 98k is a pre-Second World War German military bolt-action rifle, produced in 1937. The Kar98k was adopted by the German military in 1935 and became the standard service rifle of the Wehrmacht throughout the Second World War. Built around the renowned Mauser Model 98 action, these rifles are highly regarded for their robust construction, historical significance and distinctive military design.

This example, serial number 3215f, features the receiver markings S/27 over 1937, identifying it as an Erma Werke production rifle manufactured two years before the outbreak of the Second World War. The receiver also retains German military Eagle/280 (WaA280) inspection markings, consistent with Erma production during this period.

Chambered in 8×57 JS (7.92×57mm Mauser), the Kar98k utilises the proven Mauser 98 controlled-round-feed action, featuring a large claw extractor, fixed ejector and three-position wing safety. Its internal five-round magazine can be loaded individually or using standard stripper clips.

As a 1937 Erma-manufactured example, this rifle represents an interesting piece of pre-war German military manufacturing history. It retains its traditional military configuration, including a full-length wooden stock, steel barrel bands, bayonet mounting arrangement, military tangent rear sight and front blade sight. The metalwork exhibits visible finish wear and patina, while the timber shows handling marks, scratches and general wear consistent with its age. The rifle presents as an honest, well-used military example rather than a pristine collector-grade specimen.
