  • Finnish M91 Mosin Nagant in 7.62x54r. Manufactured in 1926 by Tikkakoski (Tikka) and has the accompanying Tikka 'T' in a rectangle on the barrel.
  • The M91 is the original variant of the famous Mosin Nagant series of rifles. Designed to replace the Russian Empire's earlier Berdan Rifles, the Mosin Nagant is one of the most proliferated rifles on the planet. After Finland negotiated its independence from Russia in 1917 it inherited a large stockpile of formerly-Russian Mosin Nagant rifles, which it would press into military service and improve upon in following decades. Finland would also produce their own new rifles combining new Finnish and old Russian parts, essentially creating improved copies of the earlier Russian designs.
  • This particular rifle is matching, with the Finnish serial number '1159' present on both the barrel shank and the bolt. it was assembled in 1926 by Tikkakoski using a Russian hexagonal reciever with the accompanying Konovalov rear sight measured in Russian Arshins. After assembly it was shipped to the Finnish military arsenal 'Ase-ja Ampumatarvikevarikko 1' in Helsinki, according to the crossed cannons and ATV1 stamped on the reciever. The rifle was then transferred to the Finnish Army with the accompanying boxed '[SA]' (Suomen Armeija) property stamp on the left-hand side of the barrel. Sometime later, it was again transferred by the army this time to the Finnish Civil Guard in Pohja, souther. Finland, according to the 'SS124838' stamped on the right-hand side of the barrel. The 'SS' is a Civil Guard stamp indicated the rifle was transferred to the Guard by the Finnish Army, and '124838' is the Civil Guard District number for Pohja. This M91 is one of the rarer variations of Finnish Mosins, and very likely saw combat in the 1939-1940 Winter War and/or the 1941-1944 Continuation War.
