I've used this design of mounts both two piece and one piece made by hillier or lynx for 30 years. The only problem I've had with both sets of lynx mounts is that I have had to carefully file part of the dovetail rails on the front mount to enable it to slide on correctly. One improvement for the lynx version would be to put angled dovetail rails on both sides.
Despite this once fitted it locks on tight.There may be stronger systems
but for every day use I have found this system of mounts extremely strong and secure and handle the rigours of field use excellently. This is my 3rd set of bases of this design.
