  • $4,90000

  • Excellent war-time German K98k rifle manufactured in 1941 by Mauser-Werke at their Oberndorf am Neckar factory. This rifle is one of an estimated 350,000 rifles manufactured by Mauser in 1941, with the receiver stamped "byf" above "41" ('byf' being Mauser's covert manufacturer's code used between 1940-1945 and '41' representing the last two digits of the year of manufacture, 1941).
  • This rifle was issued to the German Luftwaffe as it bears the accompanying Luftwaffe acceptance stamp (an eagle over the letter 'L') on the right-hand side of its buttstock. Its barrel also has an additional Luftwaffe depot stamp, as well as a proof mark showing that it was manufactured at Mauser-Werke's Berling-Borsigwalde factory, indicating that the rifle was likely assembled at a Luftwaffe depot. The walnut stock (one of the last before the complete transition to laminate later that year) also bears the code "bpr" on its buttplate, suggesting that it was made by J. Grossfuss Metall-und Lackwarenfabrik of Döbeln.
  • This rifle is in excellent condition, with no pitting present at all and a well-preserved finish. The barrel is pristine, while the woodwork is in very good condition with only a darkened finish and some cosmetic marks but no damage whatsoever.
  • The rifle is almost entirely matching, with everything apart from its capture screws, cleaning rod, and bolt stop screw bearing the rifle's serial number or an abbreviation thereof.
  • This rifle is an incredibly interesting example of early-to-mid war K98k rifle production, and has phenomenal provenance as a Luftwaffe-issue rifle made entirely by Mauser-Werke at both their Oberndorf am Neckar and Berlin-Borsigwalde factories. This would be a fantastic addition to any collection!
