  • A war-time German K98k rifle rifle manufactured in 1941 by Mauser-Werke at their Oberndorf am Neckar factory. This rifle is one of an estimated 60,000 rifles manufactured by Mauser in 1941 as part of a commercial contract for Portugal, with the receiver stamped with the Portuguese national crest above "1941" (the date of manufacture). Given the presence of the Portuguese crest in the centre of the receiver, the manufacturer's mark (the text "Mauser-Werke A.G. Oberndorf A.N.") is instead stamped on the receiver's left-hand side.
  • Being manufactured and sent to Portugal, this rifle was issued to the Portuguese armed forces. In Portuguese service, rather than being referred to as a K98k it was instead designated 'm/937B' (the 'm/937' and 'm/937A' being the designations for earlier Portuguese K98k variants made by Mauser). The rifle has the standard German acceptance stamps present on both the stock and metalwork, and apart from one on its receiver also has a Portuguese crest on the left-hand side of its butt stock.
  • The rifle is in good condition, with a no pitting present at all and a well-preserved finish. The barrel is pristine, while the woodwork is also in good condition, with a darkened finish and some cosmetic marks and scratches.
  • It is non-matching, with the rifle's barrel, trigger, action screws, & cleaning rod bearing the incorrect serial number. It has also been drilled and tapped for scope mounts, and has had its bolt handle bent to allow for said scope to sit on the rifle during use.
  • These Portuguese-contract rifles are highly sought after given their rarity, and they represent a phenomenal mid-war example of Mauser-Werke's K98k production given Portugal's quality stipulations in the contract. Despite its flaws, it would be a great addition to any collection!
